At Quooker, we have always aimed to keep all our functions under one roof, as we believe both our product and our people benefit from this. However, due to the rapid growth of our company, this was no longer feasible—we simply outgrew our space. We had to rent a warehouse in the Rotterdam area of Heijplaat to store our inventory and expand into neighboring buildings in Ridderkerk to accommodate production.
“That was not ideal,” says Kirsten van den Berg, who works partly as an independent professional and partly as Quooker’s project manager for the new building. “Even if your office and factory are only one street apart, you still feel the distance. Then the opportunity arose to purchase a large plot of land at the Nieuw Reijerwaard business park, on the border between Ridderkerk and Barendrecht. Here, we have the possibility to build a new facility that is six times larger than our current one, while also being compact and innovative enough to make major strides in sustainability. This new location gives us room to grow while keeping all our people in the region.”
