Quooker turns every internship into a valuable learning experience

Every six months, Quooker welcomes fifteen to twenty interns to the workplace. They are recruited by Isabella Tielen, who once interned at Quooker herself and stayed on in a role that includes campus recruitment.

“Even as an intern, you can make an impact here.”

The main reason to choose an internship at Quooker is the experience you gain and the way you are guided, according to Isabella Tielen. She knows this from experience. In 2021, as a business administration student, she completed a six-month internship at Quooker as part of the Future Team. “This is a group of students who work together on projects from different departments. One moment I was working for Supply Chain, the next for Marketing or HR. In a short time, I got to know the entire company.” After her internship, Isabella stayed on as a working student. As she was finishing her degree, her manager asked if she wanted to stay at Quooker.

A tailored role “They asked me which department interested me most,” Isabella explains. “Because I already knew all the departments, I had a clear answer: HR and sustainability.” Since January 2024, Isabella splits her 40-hour workweek between the sustainability department and her role as Campus Recruiter. In that role, she recruits students through fairs, workshops, and guest lectures she organizes. She also gives company tours and explains what students can expect. “Quooker aims to make every internship a meaningful learning experience and invests a lot of time and energy in that. A thorough onboarding and a personal development plan are part of it.”

Plenty of personal attention When Isabella joined Quooker, the company had 350 employees. It has now grown to 575. “It is no longer a small company, but you do not experience the bureaucracy often found in large organizations. Communication lines are short, and there is a lot of trust. If you have a good idea, you are encouraged to carry it out, even as an intern. That way, you can make an immediate impact. You are truly taken seriously here.” She also emphasizes that it is not all work. “When you walk in, you immediately feel the energy. It is a young company where something is always happening. We have lunch together, there are drinks, outings, a vitality calendar, and themed weeks focused on topics like healthy eating or positivity. Recently, we even had a ‘sculpt your colleague’ workshop. That is what I mean. People work hard and ambitions are high, but there is also room for fun. And who knows, you might end up with a job, just like I did.”
