How we handle waste streams at Quooker
Although we work as consciously as possible, we also produce waste at Quooker. For each waste stream, our waste flow coordinator looks for the best possible destination.

Less waste, more reuse. That’s what we aim for at Quooker. That’s why we encourage customers to return reservoirs that need replacing. Where possible, customers receive a refurbished one in return. We take back the old one and restore it so it can begin a second life. This is what we call our Swap service. “Not every reservoir can be refurbished,” says our waste flow coordinator George Kooijman. “Sometimes a reservoir is simply worn out. In that case, it is fully dismantled and recycled where possible.”
Buyers of residual metals “We don’t just discard a rejected reservoir,” George explains. “It contains valuable materials that other parties can use, such as different types of stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and brass. We sort these materials into bins and deliver them as compactly as possible to the recycler.” Thanks to his background in metal recycling, George knows many companies that are eager to take our residual materials. “I know the industry well. That’s how I found a suitable partner for processing old CUBEs, who dismantles them and processes the materials in an environmentally friendly way.”
Bread crusts and banana peels In addition to metals, we also deal with cardboard waste and plastic films. “My colleague Gurkan drives a container around the site every day to collect waste from different departments. Both cardboard and plastics go to a company in Barendrecht, which processes all waste using innovative techniques.” At the moment, George is focusing on the organic waste generated at Quooker. “With 600 colleagues, you naturally produce a lot of food waste each day,” he says. “We’re now looking for a good solution that aligns with our belief in a circular economy. We are continuously improving our products and processes to truly make a difference: less waste, more reuse.”
