That interns at Quooker can make a real impact is something Chun Tang proves by example. He joined us in 2017 as an Electrical Engineering intern and started working on an assignment for the Service department.

“Every Quooker reservoir has an LED light that starts flashing when an error occurs. You know there’s a problem, but not exactly what the problem is,” Chun explains. “So I developed a device that communicates with the Quooker via Bluetooth. The collected data is then sent to the service engineer’s tablet, allowing them to see exactly what’s going on.” In addition to receiving plenty of praise for his invention, Chun was awarded an excellent final grade for his graduation project: 9.3. “But the best part,” Chun says with a proud smile, “is that the device is still being used at Quooker to this day.”

Although he initially planned to follow up his HBO degree with a Master’s at TU Delft, he ultimately made a different choice on the advice of a career coach. “Quooker offered me a position as an Embedded Engineer. In the end, I decided to go for that, because there is so much to learn here. As an Embedded Engineer, I worked every day on connecting all the elements inside the ‘brain’ of our Quooker taps. We write the product software, test it and implement it. The working environment is ideal: everything we need to do our job properly is available. On top of that, the atmosphere within the team is very pleasant. There’s a lot of humour, but also a great deal of enthusiasm for the work. Yes, I made the right choice.”

In the meantime, Chun has taken the next step in his career at Quooker and now works as a Lead Software Engineer. “I’m looking forward to what the future at Quooker will bring.”
