Three things you didn’t know about our factory

Standards are high at Quooker’s factory. We are constantly looking for ways to become more efficient and productive, with even smarter machines. But the key to success? That’s the people, says Manager Operations Ben.

Ben Schop Quooker operations

“We do it together."

Ben joined Quooker in 2006 without a diploma. Today, as Manager Operations, he is responsible for the 120 people working in our factory. He ensures everything runs smoothly, targets are met, and quality remains high. He is also focused on the future, on growth and scaling up in the right way, in close collaboration with other departments. According to Ben, things work a little differently in Quooker’s factory compared to most others. Here are three things you might not know:

1. There are more people than machines on our production floor

“Every week, our factory produces 7,000 Quooker systems, 2,600 Cubes, and 15,000 CO₂ cylinders. And a surprising amount of that work is done by people. While we use automated lines for producing our reservoirs, our taps are largely assembled by hand. Our factory employs 120 people: 105 production workers, 6 engineers, and their supervisors. Almost everyone works from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which contributes to a strong team culture. We really do it together.”

2. Our workplace is highly diverse

“Among our 105 production employees, there are 27 different nationalities. And it works really well. Everyone brings something unique, and together they shape the Quooker culture. It’s also quite special that one-third of our production staff are women. That’s something we actively encourage. By designing our production lines to be as light and ergonomic as possible, the work is accessible to everyone.”

3. There is strong internal growth

“Our goal is to become 10% more efficient in the near future. In other words, we want to produce more Quookers with the same number of people. To achieve this, it’s important to have the right people in the right roles. We aim to fill leadership positions as much as possible with people from within the team. They already know the company and their colleagues and are committed to it. Giving people opportunities also has a positive effect on collaboration and motivates others to grow. With some extra support and training, people can go far. That’s how I got to where I am today.”
