Quooker’s Family Fun Fair: employees look back

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, we at Quooker opened our doors wide to the family members and friends of our employees. During the Family Fun Fair, we enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look together, along with games, snacks, and drinks.

“Quooker started as a family business. And even though we’re growing rapidly, we want to preserve that family feeling,” says Isabella Tielen, who helped organize Quooker’s first Family Fun Fair. “That’s why we decided to give our employees the opportunity to show their workplace to family and friends.”

'The incredibly pleasant atmosphere at Quooker was immediately felt by my family as well!'

Route full of surprises “Employees guided their family members themselves, using a map and a game card. Along the way, all kinds of surprises awaited them,” Isabella explains. “For example, you could play electrical-themed games in the R&D department. In Production, video screens showed how a Quooker is made. And in the canteen, there was a scale model of our new building, which you could view while enjoying a mini smoothie.

The route ended at a kind of circus square, where all guests were welcomed with snacks and drinks, games, and a photo booth. Shuttle buses also departed from here to the HUB in Rotterdam, where aerial acts and a space hopper race took place. In total, 800 visitors attended. Some employees came with their partner or a friend, while others brought their entire family. There were many children! There was plenty for them to do as well, from Quook-bobbing, Twister, and Jenga XL to pouring themselves a glass of fristi from a Quooker.”

A selection of reactions “It was so nice to show the people you talk to about Quooker every day what the company is really like, and let them experience it! Even nicer to hear that the incredibly pleasant atmosphere here was immediately felt by my family as well,” says Nienke Jongenelen, Recruitment Marketeer, who brought her whole family to the Family Fun Fair.

That was exactly the goal, says Walter Peteri, director of Quooker: to give employees the opportunity to show their loved ones that they work at a special company where you can truly feel at home. He looks back on a valuable day: “It’s important for people to feel supported by those at home. A family day like this can contribute to that.”

Carine Por, team leader of Quooker’s design studio, also enjoyed the event: “The event was perfectly organized. It was great to show Quooker to my family.” “My boyfriend noticed that everything had been thought through down to the smallest detail—even the beer coasters at the bar,” says Tessa Essers, validation engineer.

Isabella: “All in all, we look back on a day that was both enjoyable and valuable, during which 800 people got to know our company better and we, as colleagues, strengthened the family feeling on the work floor. The Family Fun Fair is definitely worth repeating!”
