“It’s educational and fun!”

At various locations throughout the Quooker office, you’ll find a calendar: the training calendar. It lists all the workshops, courses, and training programs Quooker offers to employees over the next two years. Anyone who wants to can sign up and attend these workshops, courses, or training sessions completely free of charge—from Conversation Skills and Time Management to Excel and Internship Coaching.

Learning skills From the very beginning, Quooker has encouraged employees to develop themselves through training and education. Since 2023, we have been offering a wide range of in-house training programs through our training calendar. “We wanted to lower the threshold,” says HR Advisor Melissa Bink, who compiles the calendar. “I regularly ask colleagues which areas they would like to develop in or which skills they want to learn. If they indicate they want to improve their business English or presentation skills, I look for interesting speakers and put together a program. Afterwards, I ask colleagues what they thought of it. What I often hear is that they are able to apply the tools they’ve learned directly in their daily work. And that’s what we do it for!”

Operations All courses are delivered by professional trainers. “I select them carefully,” says Melissa. “Someone not only needs to have expertise, but also be able to convey it well.” She regularly attends training sessions herself: “Because it’s both fun and educational, but also because I want to see how the trainer performs.” Melissa herself attended the Personal Leadership course by invitation. This three-day course for young, ambitious professionals is followed up after three years with the Young Professionals Program. “During a program of more than six months with intensive training days, you really get to know yourself better and experience significant personal growth,” she explains.

Melissa will soon start a “train-the-trainer” course, so she can begin teaching her colleagues herself. “My expertise lies in communication skills: how to give feedback, how to deliver bad news—things like that. I’m really looking forward to having the skills to share that knowledge with my colleagues!”
