Applying for a Job at Quooker? Here’s what you need to know

What should you do when applying for a job at Quooker? CPO Isabel Salomons shares her most important tips. “Above all, show us who you are."

Isabel Salomons HR Director Quooker

“You really don’t have to show up in a formal suit.”

At Quooker’s international headquarters in the Netherlands, dozens of applications come in every week. Last year, there were as many as 3,400. We interviewed 743 candidates and hired 208 new colleagues. Impressive numbers, but behind every interview is a deliberate choice. As Isabel puts it: “Whether we hire you doesn’t depend solely on what you can do. We look very closely at who you are and whether you’re a good fit for us.”

That personal approach takes time and it’s time we’re happy to invest. Our entire recruitment process revolves around genuine contact. After every interview, we provide honest feedback: why we move forward, or why we don’t. We want candidates to feel from the very first moment that the image we present as an employer truly reflects reality. “No polished stories that turn out differently in practice — just sincere transparency.” Honesty lasts the longest, and we strongly believe in that. Especially in a time when employment conditions can sometimes spiral out of proportion. “We don’t go along with that kind of hype, it also has to be explainable to our current employees.” Sometimes that makes filling a vacancy more challenging, but we are persistent. In the end, we always find the right match.

Quooker is now active in more than nineteen countries and continues to grow rapidly internationally. Yet our Dutch roots remain visible in everything we do: down-to-earth, honest, collaborating without fuss, and doing what you promise. We’re proud of where we come from and just as proud of the global impact we make with an innovative product that was invented and developed in the Netherlands.

When are you a good fit at Quooker? “It has to click,” Isabel explains. We’re looking for people who want to learn, who are open to feedback, who gain energy from collaboration, and who aren’t just looking for a job, but for a place where they can truly contribute. “We don’t pretend to be anything other than who we are,” she says. “We really do it together. We like to meet each other to learn, to get inspired, and to have fun.” And yes, that occasionally includes drinks or a party.

So it’s important to show who you are. But how do you do that? By asking thoughtful questions that show you’ve done your homework. By being honest about your strengths as well as your weaknesses. By sharing examples of situations where you’ve learned something. By admitting when you find something exciting — or when you simply don’t know something yet. Isabel often emphasizes this: “I think it’s strong when someone is aware of their pitfalls and can make that concrete with an example. Even stronger is when someone knows how to deal with such a pitfall.” You don’t have to show up in a formal suit, unless that’s what makes you feel comfortable. We value honesty, vulnerability, and genuine motivation. What touches us most during interviews is enthusiasm. Candidates applying for R&D who proudly showcase their previous projects. People who light up when talking about their craft. Candidates who want to contribute not only to a product, but to an organization. And whether you work in the Netherlands or in one of our international teams: that sense of connection, pride, and building something together, that’s what makes Quooker, Quooker.
