From intern to indispensable link: José’s career at Quooker

If anyone can explain how every Quooker product works, it’s José. After completing an internship in our R&D department, she landed a permanent role in Service International, where she combines technical insight with a talent for clear communication.

“Learning things and then sharing that knowledge with others is what I enjoy most.”

When you order a product from Quooker, it comes with a manual explaining how to install, use, and maintain it. The clear language and helpful illustrations are José’s work. Since 2023, she has been a Technical Communication Specialist in the Service International team. “I constantly put myself in the customer’s shoes. How do I guide them step by step? Which words should I use? What terms might cause confusion? Do they still understand? I have to be very precise. If I make a mistake, the service department gets flooded with questions.”

Water as a passion José started at Quooker as an intern. “I studied Industrial Product Design at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and had a strong interest in metal and water. I row and windsurf, water is really my hobby. During my studies, I focused on maritime design, until Quooker came up as a potential internship. I thought, hey, that’s interesting too.” During her six-month internship in the Research & Development department, she contributed to projects including the development of the Front tap. “I loved that all departments are under one roof. Everyone easily connects with each other, and the atmosphere is very open. I really enjoyed my time there.”

Learning and sharing knowledge José discovered that she enjoyed not only the technical side of the work, but also explaining it. This led to her joining Quooker as a full-time Technical Communication Specialist in mid-2023. In this role, she works closely with her former R&D colleagues as well as service and marketing teams across all Quooker countries. “Every product change from R&D, no matter how small, can require an update to the manual.” She especially enjoys working on new product launches, such as the upcoming Flex Square. “Before I start writing, I need to fully understand how the product works. Learning new things and then sharing that knowledge with others is what I enjoy most.”

Switching quickly Because many projects run simultaneously at Quooker, José often needs to switch between tasks, something she enjoys. “I like a bit of challenge and variety. That’s also why I’m part of the trade fair team, which handles the installation of Quooker systems at exhibitions in the countries where we operate. If you have certain interests or ambitions, there’s always room for them at Quooker. People are open to new ideas. That dynamic environment suits me perfectly.”
