Sam is a business analyst at Quooker
Quooker is well on its way to conquering the world. To keep pace with our own growth, the Business Intelligence & Information Management (BI&IM) department is constantly on the lookout for ways to improve and streamline the organization. Business analyst Sam certainly has plenty to do.

Sam joined Quooker in 2024 at exactly the right time. International growth was accelerating rapidly, and the company was on the brink of the next phase of that expansion. “There was an enormous amount of work to be done,” Sam says. “Across many departments at the same time. How could we improve processes, make them more efficient and more streamlined? From the moment I started, many new projects were launched in which I was able to play a role.
A lot of responsibility, a lot of freedom Sam grew up in Ridderkerk. At home they had a Quooker tap, and as a child he passed the Quooker logo every day on his way to school. “It always seemed like a company that had things well organized. When I saw the vacancy for business analyst, I thought: it must be great to be part of that.”
He has now been working at Quooker for one and a half years and feels well settled in the organization. “People here are incredibly open and helpful. The ambitions are high, so you never get bored. You’re given a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of freedom. And if you ever get stuck, there’s always someone you can turn to.”
The bigger picture Sometimes a project starts from a question or need within a department, Sam explains. Often, his department identifies improvement opportunities itself. After all, BI&IM looks across departments and sees the bigger picture. As a business analyst, Sam acts as the link between the ‘business’, as he calls it, and IT. “By business, I mean the other departments within the organization — from HR to Supply Chain, from Production to Marketing & Communications.” When he starts a project, he is involved from beginning to end, right through to full technical implementation. “The adoption side is also a very important part of our work — in other words, how the solution is embraced by the users.”
Everything in one place The BI&IM department consists of 11 people: six business analysts, one process analyst, three data specialists and a manager. “As business analysts we all do the same type of work, but we’re very different as individuals,” Sam says. “We each have our own strengths. One is strong in storytelling, another is very analytical or technical. We make smart use of that diversity.”
At the moment, Sam is working on several projects. He is the change manager for the new ERP system, project manager for a new ticketing system, and project manager for the implementation of a new global HR system. “The need for a new HR system was high. Currently, all 17 countries in which Quooker operates have their own system. As we become more and more international, that no longer suits us. To maintain oversight, we want all contracts, payslips, schedules, and data on absenteeism and performance reviews in one place. Developing such an integrated system is not easy, because each country has its own laws and regulations that we need to take into account. But that’s exactly what makes the work so interesting. I still have a lot to learn and discover here.”
