From a summer job to an engineering internship Svenja first got to know Quooker during a summer job in the Production department. Not long afterwards, she needed to find an internship as part of her Mechanical Engineering degree. ‘That was when I thought of Quooker again. I sent in an application and was accepted.’

Designing and building a complete machine During her internship, Svenja was asked to build a sensor tube oven unloader. She worked on the mechanics, electronics and software and was also allowed to connect the machine herself. ‘I had no idea how to approach it at first, so I simply got started. That is what I like about working at Quooker: you are trusted. You receive guidance, of course, and everyone is willing to help, but you are also encouraged to figure things out and experiment. That helped me learn a great deal in a short time.’

Working as a mechatronics engineer at Quooker A year later, Svenja graduated and applied to Quooker again. ‘During my internship, I had seen how much you can do at Quooker. It made me want to come back.’ Svenja has worked as a mechatronics engineer since August 2020, developing the machines and production lines used in Quooker’s own factory. For a new Quooker Flex production line, she worked on the electronics, created electrical drawings, built control cabinets and designed a machine together with a colleague.

‘I really enjoy being given the freedom and trust to do all of that. There is still so much for me to learn here.’
