Svenja van Nes
In the third year of her HBO Mechanical Engineering studies, Svenja completed an internship at Quooker. After graduating, she joined us as a mechatronics engineer.

It all started for Svenja with a holiday job in the Production department at Quooker. Not long after, she had to find an internship for her studies. “That’s when I thought of Quooker again. I wrote a letter and was accepted.
She was immediately thrown in at the deep end. “I was given the assignment to build a machine: a sensor tube oven discharger. I was allowed to do everything for it—from mechanics to electronics, from writing the software to the final connection. I actually had no idea how to approach it, so I just started. That’s what makes working at Quooker so great: you’re given trust. Of course, you’re guided and everyone is willing to help, but mostly you’re expected to figure things out and experiment yourself. That has helped me grow enormously in a short time.”
A year later, Svenja graduated and applied to Quooker again. “During my internship, I saw all the things you can do at Quooker. It definitely made me want more.” Since August 2020, she has been working as a mechatronics engineer, where she helps design and build the machines used within the company.
“We’ve just completed a new production line for the Quooker Flex, for which I handled the electronics. I created the electrical drawings, built the control cabinets, and designed a machine together with a colleague. Having the space and trust to do all of that is fantastic—it means I still have so much to learn here.”
